Yarn Club is a monthly package of beautiful yarns, delivered direct to you. Each month the surprise is revealed when you open your box – here is what awaited Yarn Clubbers in May.
May Yarn Club – Caribbean Sea
As the weather is beginning to get warmer, this month I chose a sock weight yarn that can be used for lighter garments. With the thought of some summer knitting ahead, I chose a sparkly yarn – one of my favourites, the gold Dazzler yarn is incredibly soft as it’s a superwash merino, but it’s strong enough for everyday wear as it has 20% nylon blended into it. The gold thread sparkles when it hits the light, but it needs just the right colour to show it off.
Each month is a balance of matching the yarn I want to use, the colourway I feel inspired by, what I think people may be making at that time, and how it fits with previous months yarn. This month it was an easy choice – sparkly glistening blues fit perfectly with the yarn, and I know these are great colours for summer projects – lightweight, lacy shawls, pretty cardigans or shrugs all look great with a little bit of sparkle and blue shows off this yarn perfectly.
As I knew I would be staying near the Caribbean in May I wanted to bring that element in and these clear, glassy blues do that perfectly. The light variegation between the tones of blue add just enough interest to the yarn, and with thoughtful selection will add to a pattern choice rather than detract from the stitches – keep it simple and the yarn will shine through!
I know some people have cast on already – you can see what others are making on Instagram using the #devonsunyarns and looking in the gallery here and in the Devon Sun Yarnies group on Facebook here.
