A round up of some of my favourite crochet patterns to suit May Yarn Club yarn
The club yarn this month was a pretty sparkly sock weight yarn (read more about it here ) and I made some suggestions about what you could knit with this yarn. But don’t worry if you prefer your hook to needles – here’s my favourite crochet patterns that would look great with the lightly variegated blue yarn. Its a pretty, sparkly yarn perfect for lightweight summer garments, so get your hook out and make yourself something beautiful with one of these crochet patterns!
My favourite summer shrug!
This is one of my favourite summer items to wear – it’s a delicate pretty shrug, that looks great over a summer dress, but I must admit I wear mine as a scarf and it’s so lightweight and lacy, it looks great and is perfect for summer. Don’t be put off by the motifs – its an easy pattern and well worth it. Available for free here
Keep your hands warm with these pretty shell gloves
I always say I’ll start early with wristwarmers and gloves so I have them when I need them – these would be perfect! The pretty shell pattern would look lovely in a pretty blue yarn, and the nylon means they would be strong enough for every day use too. Its a free pattern, available here
Delicate, long scarf thats perfect for summer
This beautiful scarf is made from tiny square motifs joined together – its so pretty and the lovely sparkly yarn would really shine in a pattern like this. Its a free pattern, available on ravelry , and looks like it would be a great on the go project too.
A perfect easy summer project, so you are ready for autumn!
Not that we want to think about cooler days just yet but this Lazy Waves Shawlette is perfect for tucking into a jumper on a chilly autumn morning – start now and feel organised! This meditative wave pattern is an easy repeat to remember for the perfect portable summer project, and the lovely wave motion in the shawl suits the colours of the yarn too. You can get it free here
A Summer top from just one skein!
I love this vest – and the smaller sizes need only one skein! Its so pretty, and perfect for the summer but I think would look pretty layered over a tshirt for cooler months too. Theres some great comments in the projects section on Ravelry to help you work out sizing too. Get the pattern here
Super sweet bonnet perfect for a new arrival!
This is the sweetest bonnet, I just had to include it. It would be such a lovely gift for a new baby in the family, and would be a super quick project to make up too – and if the new mama doesnt have time to handwash, it can be washed on a delicate machine cycle too. Get the free pattern here
I know that often it can feel like there isn’t the choice for crochet patterns, but I hope there’s something here that catches your eye – do let me know which is your favourite!
If you want to save this post for later, just pin this image and you’ll be able to come back whenever you have a spare skein of sock weight yarn in your stash calling to be used and you need some crochet patterns!
