Make of the Week , 20/10/17.
When I saw this shawl pop up in my Instgram feed, it took my breath away. I loved it straight away and knew it had to be the first Make of the Week. Becky bought a Colour Lover set of 5 mini skeins, and used them to make this wonderful shawl, which is exactly what I had imagined these packs would be used for when I started selling them – little pops of colour, that go together so well that they work on their own, and in a bigger project. Huge thanks to Becky for sharing her make, she explains a little bit more about the project below.
Maker: Becky Calvey
Pattern: Buccaneer by Justyna Lorkowska, available on Ravelry here.
Yarn: Colour Lover set of 5 x 20g mini skeins, combined with Debbie Bliss Rialto and some undyed yarn.
I completely missed the MKAL but really wanted to make one after seeing so many beautiful versions on Instagram and Ravelry. When I spotted the Colour Lover set of minis I knew they’d be perfect for it! The main colour is Debbie Bliss Rialto 4ply, and I added some undyed sock yarn to make up the colours to 6.
I’m completely in love with the finished item – the colours absolutely sing! It reminds me of the sea, the sky and the coast, all a big part of living in Devon , I live just outside of Exeter, overlooking the river Exe.
The yarn has blocked out beautifully in the lace sections, and I love the depth of glazed tones in each of the colours.
